New listings are continuing to drop year-over-year in the Greater Toronto Area, with the number of interested buyers increasing, according to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board. This could put sellers in an excellent position to sell their home this spring.
“This increased demand will run up against a constrained supply of listings and lead to increased competition between buyers,” said Jason Mercer, Toronto Regional Real Estate Board Chief Market Analyst. “This will eventually lead to renewed price growth in many segments of the market, especially those catering to first-time buyers facing increased rental costs.”
 
Motivated buyers
With the winter months behind them, buyers are generally more motivated to buy a home in the warmer months. Right alongside spring cleaning, there’s a desire to start everything fresh, including getting into a home that better suits their lifestyle.
 
Maximized curb appeal
You don’t have to wait until the summer to make sure your home shows well. Your house will naturally show better in the spring than in the winter months. With the snow long gone and flowers starting to bloom, it will have that much more curb appeal. You can also help boost the curb appeal yourself by adding flowers, touching up paint, and cleaning up your front lawn to make your home look just as neat and tidy outside as it is inside.
Inside, your home will also be more appealing to potential buyers. It will be filled with more natural light than in the darker and more dreary days of winter, which can also help it sell faster. Additionally, coats, boots, and muddy carpets will be cleared away so that first impression at the front door will grab buyers’ attention.
 
Easier to prep your home
Spring is also an excellent time to prep your home for sale. It’s warmer outside, and tasks that may take a lot longer to do or may not be doable at all in the colder months are a lot more straightforward to complete.
